Who We Are...
Candles For Occasions was founded in 2012 by Melissa Barry. A crafter from a very young age, she was hugely influenced by her Mother's handy work throughout her early years. Her first of many craft awards was achieved in 1991.
When her children were born, Melissa took the opportunity to work from home. Over the years, she built Candles For Occasions to what it is today; an award-winning company you can depend on for quality and affordability!
With demand for a luxury brand of soy wax products on the Irish market, Melissa launched Herbert & Byrne as a luxury home fragrance brand. Inspired by her past generations, the name "Herbert & Byrne" has strong links to both Rush & Dublin, an important factor in reflecting both her roots, and the roots of the company.
From our purpose-built studio in the beautiful coastal town of Rush, Co Dublin, each product is individually hand-made with a little tlc. Whether it's a hand-crafted personalised candle, a hand-poured soy wax candle or delicately balanced linen spray, you can be sure it was crafted to our high standards.
In recognition of our high standard of work, Candles For Occasions was crowned "Wedding Accessories Provider of the Year" at the Irish Wedding Awards.
Following a challenging 2 years, Candles For Occasions was nominated & shortlisted as a finalist in the 2022 Let's Talk Weddings Ireland Awards as "Wedding Accessories provider of the year", and crowned winner by an independent panel of 7 judges.

We were successfully short-listed as a finalist in multiple categories in the 2023 Let's Talk Weddings Ireland Awards and have been short-listed again in five categories in the 2024 Awards.
